The Wayne County Historical Society's Tastes of Wayne County  "First Wednesdays" are a wonderful opportunity to try out a new  local eatery or visit an old favorite in Wayne County. Mother's Day Afternoon Watercolor 
Location: Lacawac Sanctuary Field Station and Environmental Education Center
Time: May 13, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM

​Parents and children will learn some watercolor basics and create nature-inspired pictures that go together. All ages. Registration appreciated. Adult Cost $15 - $10 Members/Child $5 - Members FREE


All Aboard! The Greater Honesdale Partnership invites you to “Train Day – A Celebration of our Rails” on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
Explore the many shops and eateries that Honesdale has to offer. Check out one or more of the over 30 craft vendors.
-There will be an antique car show in the parking lot of St. Mary’s church on the corner of 4th and 5th. Stop and check out all the beautiful cars!
-Enjoy the Civil War reenactment camp in beautiful Central Park, including a morning visit by non other than Abe Lincoln himself! Black powder demonstrations will be held throughout the day.
-Plan on bringing the kids to Caboose Alley (behind the Post Office) from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for some fun, and then hop on board a caboose for a tour or climb aboard the engine to blow the whistle. 
-The train will be running with trips to Hawley at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. and a very special 4:15 p.m. Centennial Limited, helping the Wayne County Historical Society celebrate its 100th anniversary. -Visit the Model Railroad Club’s train layout in the Grace Episcopal Church Parish Hall (827 Church St.) between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. -Visit the Civil War Living History in beautiful Central Park. The Old Stone Jail will be open for tours from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is something everyone should see. Save time to stop in to see all the new exhibits at the Historical Society, 810 Main Street. And watch for Abe Lincoln who will be in town and riding the rails all day!
-Top off the day with a free concert, sponsored by Quality Printing and Design and the DL&S Railroad, trackside. Bring a chair and enjoy the music. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Afternoon Paddle 
Location: Lacawac Sanctuary Field Station and Enivronmental Education Center
Time: May 21, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Enjoy a Sunday Afternoon canoe paddle on Lake Lacawac. Learn about the scientific research being done at Lacawac Sanctuary and what makes it such an ideal place for ecological study. All ages welcome. Boats, paddles and life jackets are provided. Personal lifejackets may be used. Reservations required as spaces are limited. Cost: $15 - $10 members.


Swing NightPresented by The Cooperage Project
It’s not every day that we get to put an 18-piece band up on our stage! The Cooperage Project is thrilled to welcome the Swing Shift Orchestra out of Wurtsboro, NY along with Got2Lindy (Linda and Chester Freeman) for an evening of swing music AND one-hour of dance instruction.This event is BYOB

Spring for Kidz Carnival 
Location: First Presbyterian Church of Hawley, 815 Church St Hawley Pa
Time: May 27, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
The 2nd annual First Presbyterian Church of Hawley Spring for Kids Carnival is a family friendly event and is open to all. Tickets are $5 per person and children under 2 are free. There will be two bounce houses, a rock climb slide, obstacle course inflatable, dunk tank, pony rides, face painting, hot dogs, cotton candy and more.

JUNE 2017

Kids Fest 
Location: Lake Wanoka Resort, 187 Ski Run Road Honesdale
Time: Jun 3, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Kids Fest is a day filled with many creative hands-on activities, including entertainment for children of all ages! It is a community event taking place at Lake Wanoka Resort (home of the KC Pepper Restaurant) Some activities being offered are: Splash pad Playground Ambulance and fire truck exploring Giant slip and slide Petting Zoo Pony rides by Eccles family farm Face Pinting by Bodhi Tree Art School and Studio Tractor rides Raffle baskets photo booth by Gina Lentz Photography Bounce Houses and much more!! All adults receive free admission, while each child receives a Kids Fest bracelet with each $10.00 paid admission, first 100 will also receive a canvas tote. All activities are included with the admission fee and offered and sponsored by local businesses.

Join university professors Dr. Meg Hatch and Dr. Robert Smith to check mist nets and learn about bird banding birds. After enjoy a sit down breakfast and presentation on parental bird behavior. Registration limited. Cost: $15 - Members $10.
